What service does Local Surveyors Direct provide?
Local Surveyors Direct provides an introduction only service between
homebuyers/homeowners and surveyors, structural engineers and other property
specialists. Homebuyers requiring a property service are able to use this
website to obtain estimates and contact details from surveyors, structural
engineers and other property specialists who are local to the property
concerned. This is made possible by a large UK network of indepedent surveyors,
structural engineers and other property specialists. Most of these are single
person businesses or small partnerships.
A homebuyer or homeowner visiting the website completes an estimate request
form by providing details of the property concerned. A list of estimates
together with suppliers contact details are then provided online. In addition
the homebuyer or homeowner receives a confirmation email. The homebuyer or
homeowner then contacts their preferred Surveyor and deals directly. Assuming
the price and time scales are mutually agreeable, the homebuyer or homeowner
places an order directly with the supplier.
Local Surveyors Direct does not accept orders for suppliers.
Each time an estimate is produced on behalf of a supplier, an email is sent
confirming the estimate and the potential client's details.

Who sets the price?
Prices for Surveys and areas of operation (postcode areas/districts) are not
set by the network but are instead determined independently by each supplier.
In addition to the home area of operation, the supplier can also determine
outer areas where coverage is possible at increased prices.
The variables for determining price are:
-
Approximate purchase price of the residential property to be surveyed.
-
Number of bedrooms.
-
Post code areas for minimum price.
-
Post code areas for increased prices.
-
Age of property.

How do Local Surveyors Direct obtain the funds to operate
this website?
Local Surveyors Direct obtains funding by charging fees to suppliers for the
estimate production service. Each time an estimate is produced on behalf of a
Surveyor, a small charge is made proportional to the value of the estimate.
Local Surveyors Direct does not charge any commission when the homebuyer or
homeowner places an order directly with the supplier.

How much does it cost join the network?
Joining the network is achieved in three stages as follows:
Stage 1. No obligation trial. Objective being for you to see how the system works and to get
a feel for the level of enquiries generated. If you are happy with the outcome you then
progress to stage 2 and you pay for the leads delivered during stage 1. If not happy, you
terminate and there is nothing to pay.
Stage 2. Extended Trial. You will be invoiced an initial fee of £250
plus VAT (£293.75). This breaks down to a sign on fee of £50 and a payment for
estimates of £200. This will allow you to stay on the system for an extended
trial. There are no other costs to pay during this second stage. When you have
completed this stage you will be able to review the level of orders achieved
and then consider the possibility of progressing to the third stage.
Stage 3. Fully up and running. After the second stage you will not be
asked to make any other payments in advance. Instead you go onto direct debit
and you will be invoiced at the end of each month dependent on the value of the
estimates generated. There are no other fees to pay.

Our members have the opportunity to include a 'Member of Local Surveyors

to improve our Page Rank with search engines. This in turns brings more
customers to the site thus generating more potential leads and instructions for
our members.
Simply include the following code snippet in your web site on every page you
wish the logo to appear. Our Page Rank is shown on the bottom of the home page
and you will be able to watch it improve over time as the Local Surveyors

Is there a fee to leave the network?
It is assumed that many suppliers will wish to sign up to the network, try it
out, and then decide whether it is beneficial to them. It is of course hoped
that very few suppliers will wish to terminate. Should a Surveyor wish to
terminate then this can be done at any time by giving Local Surveyors Direct
written notice with immediate effect. There are no cancellation charges however
the Surveyor will be requested to pay the agreed fees for all estimates
generated up until the date of cancellation. It should be noted that the
initial fee of £250 plus VAT is not refundable. If the supplier terminates
during stage 1 (free trial) then there is nothing to pay at all
